Pau Recruits an Interior Player with Brief Cholet Stint
Pau continues its roster building for its return to the French elite basketball league with an exciting new addition. Following the announcement of three American players last week, another non-European player joins the club: Justin Briggs.
Born in Okinawa, the American-Japanese forward has spent his entire European career playing in various countries including Austria, Turkey, Israel, and Lithuania. He briefly played in the Betclic Élite league, participating in two championship games with Cholet during the 2024/25 season.
After a period away from the courts, during which he participated in the Netflix dating reality show 'Sneaky Links', Briggs concluded the recent season strongly in Mykonos. He particularly stood out during the Greek league playoffs, notably achieving a significant double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds against Panathinaikos.
Coach Mickael Hay commented: "Justin is a true center who is coming off a very good second half of the season in Greece. He has demonstrated his ability to deliver strong performances, especially against Panathinaikos in the playoffs. He is an athletic player with interesting mobility for his height. He has good hands near the basket, and defensively, his verticality and activity give him a dissuasive presence in the paint. He will bring us energy, rebounding, and rim protection. His profile will also be very complementary to Ben's in our interior game."
