Chalon Signs European Cup Veteran to Complete Roster
Chalon has finalized its roster with the addition of Aher Uguak, a winger with experience in European competitions. This signing comes nearly a month after their previous acquisition of Miller Kopp, marking the final piece of their summer recruitment. Uguak, a Canadian-South Sudanese player, brings a wealth of European experience to the team, having spent four seasons in Germany.
Following a full five-year NCAA career, Uguak began his professional journey in Europe with Chemnitz, Germany. During his tenure there, he participated in the Basketball Champions League (BCL) and won the FIBA Europe Cup in 2024. He will now bring his talents to the Saône-et-Loire region and compete in the same competition this year.
Uguak quickly established himself as a key player in Germany. However, his progress was interrupted in January 2025 by a patellar tendon fracture, which sidelined him for eleven months. He is now looking to regain his form and make a significant impact in France.
Coach Elric Delord's Reaction:
"Aher is the final player to join our team. He's a versatile small forward with significant game volume. He's the type of player who fills up the stat sheet. I appreciate his physicality on both offense and defense, as well as his versatility, which makes him a complete player. He can play both shooting guard and power forward, and his measurements (over 2 meters tall, 2.10-meter wingspan) give him a definite advantage. Finally, he will bring his basketball IQ, European experience, and great human qualities to our team for the upcoming season."
