China to Host 2026 AVC Beach Volleyball Continental Championships
The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), in collaboration with Volleyball World, has officially granted the China Volleyball Association the rights to host the 2026 AVC Beach Volleyball Continental Championships. This significant event is slated to take place from September 2nd to September 6th, 2026, in the city of Shangluo, China.
This championship will serve as a vital stepping stone on the path to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, offering Asia's elite beach volleyball athletes a crucial opportunity to qualify for the Olympics.
The selection of Shangluo comes after a highly successful 2025 season for beach volleyball in Asia, which saw unprecedented participation and a surge in competitive events across the region. With 48 National Federations involved in 29 AVC and FIVB events, the sport's popularity and development in Asia are clearly on the rise.
AVC President Ramon Suzara emphasized the importance of this growth and the need to maintain its momentum.
"The substantial activity in 2025, with 48 of our National Federations participating in 29 AVC and FIVB events, underscores Asia's emergence as a global hub for beach volleyball," stated Suzara. "Following the outstanding success of the World Championships in Adelaide, Australia, awarding this critical Olympic qualification tournament to China ensures that we sustain this incredible momentum into 2026."
The AVC also expressed its gratitude to Mr. Craig Carracher, Chairman of the AVC Beach Volleyball Committee, for his leadership during the bidding process and his role in selecting Shangluo as the host city.
As preparations commence, the Confederation is confident that the 2026 AVC Beach Volleyball Continental Championships will feature world-class competition and further advance the development of beach volleyball throughout the Asian continent.
The tournament is anticipated to draw the region's top athletes and is set to be one of the most important events on the Asian beach volleyball calendar as the journey towards LA 2028 continues.
